I looked again at the Morgan I had asked about earlier (Commemerative?). Here are a couple more pictures. The coin has been heavily coated with a clear coat (shellac-ish) and the colors are of course under the coating. You can also see from the 2nd picture the height difference with the Morgan and a current quarter. So me thinks this is something I'll put away and one day a relative can just enjoy its beauty.
I think that's the best call- I think in the on-going battle many of us face in trying to be an "investor/collector," it's inevitable and fine to veer to either extreme occasionally; picking up a coin you aren't crazy about just because you think you can sell it for more to someone else, and also occasionally just getting (or keeping) a coin that you know you'll never get rid of but, frankly, is just nice to look at.
