Colorado quarter

    Found this in change today. Not an error collector, so I'm just assuming this is a die break as it looks a lot like the Arizona quarters with the extra cactus leaves. This one covers more than half of the engraver's initials. Don't know if it is related to metal flow issues based on this, but the lettering on obverse for UNITED (sorry, no photo) is barely there at all, while the rest of the lettering is perfectly clear.

    I think it's cool as well, also the P under the mint mark is cool.

    Whoa! Good eye. I didn't even notice that till you pointed it out. This is one messed up quarter!
    Because mintmarks aren't punched by hand any longer, what exactly would cause this? If it were reversed I'd chalk it up to being pressed into another quarter. But, it's raised and forward. On the original it's very hard to see. I'll have to look closer at the rest and see if any other elements are similar.
