Hey, Im trying to make a complete Colorado Sales Tax Token set, Im making a checklist. I've got everything besides this one, en.numista.com states that there are five major die varieties, but does not explain how to decipher them. I was wondering if anyone could help me with these and the minor die varieties. Thanks. https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces20725.html Colorado - ⅕ Cent Sales Tax Token Features Country * Tokens * (United States) Type Token Years 1935-1937 Value 1/5 Cent (0.002) Metal Aluminium Weight 1.10 g Diameter 31 mm Thickness 0.7 mm Shape Square with round hole Orientation Medal alignment ↑↑ Demonetized 03-01-1945 Obverse Lettering: COLORADO SALES TAX STATE TREASURER Reverse Lettering: ONE FIFTH CENT SERIES A-35 SALES TAX TOKEN Edge Plain Comments Manufacturer: Sachs-Lawlor There are five major die varieties identified by the two Ss in SERIES, however they are difficult to identify. I'm afraid I dunno anything about the varieties on those. I like the square shape with the hole in the middle. Fun. There were some similar looking pieces in a bulk lot I sold a year or two ago, but they're all gone now. They were part of a much larger and quite interesting bulk bag of tokens I bought.
while i really like civil war tokens, State tax tokens never really floated my boat, ive a gallon frez bag stuffed from the last 50 years.
Those square aluminum ones are the A-35 ones Im looking at. I made the checklist, and came to the conclusion there arent really different varieties in the Ss in SERIES after viewing every single one on eBay. Im now going to start maybe identifying die pairings and making my own variety system.
