    :welcome: Alan,

The same type or denomination of coins will color or tone differently depending what they are exposed to during their circulating life.
I have been carrying a US Grant presidental dollar coin in my pocket for about only 1 month now. It is showing major signs of wear & coloration from rubbing against the cents, nickels, dimes, & quarters in my pocket as I spend some & add some each day.

I have Sacagawea's that the manganese brass outer layer has gone brown like a copper cent and one went a red-ish color. I've had Susan B. Anthony and IKE's go gold colored or even blue.

Those golden colored coins get ugly quickly in our pockets. Of course, there is always the arguement that they were ugly to begin with, but that's a different thread.
