BOSTON (CBS) — The contents of a more than 200-year-old time capsule sealed in the State House by Sam Adams and Paul Revere will be unveiled on January 6, state officials announced Tuesday.

The X-rays showed a collection of silver and copper coins dating back to 1652, an engraved silver plate, a copper medal depicting George Washington, newspapers, the seal of the Commonwealth, cards and a title page from the Massachusetts Colony Records.

Cool, hope they provide good pics and not satellite photos like many articles with coins do.

They'll eventually get around to numismatists.

I believe there are seated liberty coins too, as the capsule was previously opened in the 1850s.

Yes, and it would be downright silly to lock it back up again. Put the stuff in a museum so we can all take a good look.

Someone should hold a contest to guess which coins and how many of each are inside! They're opening it on January 6...

I count over a dozen coins but maybe less than 20, though that's just one side for the x-ray image. Hint, per one report: it has "a collection of silver and copper coins (dating from 1652 and 1855)".
