Wow! I really want some old coins from a vending machine!!!!! How do you get them? Or is this just a joke?
Considering it's only $.75 cents for each item you know you'll be getting something worth less in most cases. Even though the display shows silver coins, they will be far and few between. As for the Silver Certificate, you won't find it in the little plastic coin ball holder in great condition. However, this is a great money making idea and it may promote new collectors. It's all about making money so whoever owns this may make a small fortune. Where did you see this?
I REALLY want to use one of these!! I don't care if the coin is in terrible condition or if it isn't worth anything I want to use one of these!!!!!
Not a new idea actually. There was a coin shop or two when I was a kid that had a gumball machine with coins in the little plastic "ball" containers. You were never sure what you would get. I wound up with a lot of Buffalo nickels......
I like the magic marker "1" and "2" with the arrows showing the sucker ...uh, the customer...how to put in the 75 cents. Actually, I don't think it's a rip off at all. Better value than most vending machine "prizes," for sure. I'm envisioning a candy-bar vending machine re-tooled to hold graded coins (slabs). Set it up at a coin show booth. It could take bills or credit cards, right? You wouldn't have to have someone there at your booth at all, it would be totally secure. Man, I can't believe the genius ideas I have sometimes...
Sadly I have no back story.... its just a photo I stumbled across on facebook and thought I would share it here.... It has sparked an idea for me though... I'm planning on having something similar on my table at coin shows...
I have two thoughts on this - nice money making ideal. But I think getting a wheat cent worth a few cents is taking advantage of people, mostly kids. At the same time it might get some kid to start collecting. So not really sure what I think about it.
I missed the boat. I had a tic-tax machine that with a little modification, would have been perfect for that. Sold the building I had it stored in and left it there.
