Just curious with the state of our economy and the way things look like they are heading. How many on here have some of their collecting just for an economic crash?
After I read Atlas Shrugged in 1966, I was certain that we were headed that way. I kept the faith for 35 years. When we survived the Y2K Meltdown, I accepted that the world is going to continue in the way it has for the previous 12,000 years. Sure, Tamurlain reduced Samarkand and killed all the people and plowed salt into the ground and did it with bows and arrows and elephants not nuclear weapons. Stuff happens. End of the world? Not until the end of the world. Do, I prep? Sure! I carry at least an ounce of silver on me, just like my Swiss Army Knife and a cigarette lighter. In my briefcase, I carry a roll of quarters and a 6-inch pry bar. In my car, I have my CERT backpack and my state guard A-bag. But all of that is for tornadoes, earthquakes, asteroids, thunderstorms, and wildfires not for screaming hordes of city dwellers cut off from their welfare checks. And what I carry is mostly to help other people (or be able to help them), not to make sure that I am the last rat on a sinking ship.
I live in New York City and before you insult city dwellers, I'd appreciate it if you would get your facts straight. Check it out: https://www.google.com/search?q=states with highest welfare recipients 2018&rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS849US849&oq=States with the largest welfare recipients&aqs=chrome.3.0l5.27880j1j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8 Another fact: New York pays a lot more to the Federal Government than it gets back! https://www.politifact.com/new-york...murray/new-york-giver-state-federal-treasury/ I didn't post this to insult you or anything like that it's just that non New Yorkers think we're bleeding the Federal Gov't. Also, the FBI has rated New York City as one of the safest big cities in the United States.
Hey, I grew up in Cleveland. (See here https://www.cointalk.com/threads/un...prices-by-thomas-l-elder.339482/#post-3541117 ) I was only citing the prepper party line that you need to live in the country or the mountains to be sustainable for the coming economic collapse. As I said, I used to believe that. Over the past two decades, I came around to a different view of the world. Thank you for your reply. I like your blogs and will bookmark your blogspot. They appear to be very informative. Sorry I jumped on your comment the way I did but it really bugs me when people say negative things about us city dwellers.
