Just picked this baby up at my LCS. The owner didn't know much about Col Green. Can anyone tell me more about the Col Green Collection?

Nah, leave it be. I think it's better off where it is. Besides, the second set of eyes agrees pretty much with the original assessment. If the 'bean' were gold things would be different. Beautiful coin my friend.
I have a book about Green by Barbara Fortin Bedell. The whaling ship Charles W. Morgan was purchased by Green. Nobody else wanted it. Now it is at Mystic Seaport in Connecticut. It is the last wooden whaling ship in existence.
I've been to that Seaport; very beautiful there. I wish I had known about the ship so I could bore my poor wife with more coin-related fun
Then I seriously hit the jack pot cause I didn't spend anywhere close to that but it will go a long way to pay off my student loans
You're either trolling us or you got cheated into buying what you think is a real coin. Not sure which...
That's enough for me to call this a troll thread. That isn't a coin you casually pick up to add more old coins to a collection nor is it one anyone would ever drastically undersell. I'm not even sure that coin has been on the market lately
Here's the last sale appearance NGC has listed for it. Just about 650K in 2013 https://coins.ha.com/itm/early-doll...-cac-b-5-bb-27-r1/a/1190-33498.s?type=NGC1190 PS Edit: Also looks like the OPs pic is the heritage one with a difference background and some processing
