I'll only rank those who played in the last round. No one booked the 10 graded mark this week.. those who played in round 8 are poised to break the 10 mark in round 9, so will net another dropped score. :hail: The best of the best are tightly grouped, and a dark horse from the farm is gathering forces and stands ready to break into the leader pack. :hatch: Next four and all ANACS Gotta have at least 10 graded to rank. Rankings (points reflect average points off tpg grades): GOLD - Duke - 1.76 > still leading despite taking a slight hit to overall score in round 8. SILVER - RLM's - 1.82 > outstanding round 8 puts RLM neck and neck for the lead. BRONZE - Louie2bits - 1.85 > As Duke, took a slight hit on the 14d in round 8. All of these scores are OUTSTANDING !!!! As we continue to drop lowest scores every point becomes more critical. And now.... Here is the next set: all ANACS
btw... for those early posters and replier's to each round... Feel free to revise any pick up to the point we run the summary for the round. A couple of you have done so in previous rounds and I always take the last submitted update for each coin... just figured I'd mention it so everyone know's they can revise as desired..... .. that said, and for the sake of simplicity on my side,, please try to keep any revisions to a minimum.
11-D - AU55 83 DDR - MS63 That obverse is awfully fuzzy to try to pick out wear/no wear 18-S - MS62 11-S - MS63
Yikes! this round was hard...it sure is much easier telling the difference between details on high grade coins than it is on lower grade coins...here are my guesses... 1911 D - cleaned with au55 details 1983 P - au53 DDR 1918 S - ms62 1911 S - ms61 -LTB
Hi se-collectibles. Of course you can play...however, you will not be ranked until you grade at least 10 coins. I don't know how many more rounds bahabully intends to provide, but post your grades now and get in on the fun while you can. -LTB
Round 9 recap: First,, congratulations JustaFarmer,, your ranked,, and your jumping in on top. That said, you have significantly fewer grades than most of the players, so any signifianct misses from here on out will be more costly to the bottom line that for others.... no pressure Also, welcome Se-collect.... 6 more grades to get ranked. ANACS grades - 11D - MS61 BN - got a few folks here. 83DD - MS62 RD - yeah, I said RED.. 18S - MS62 RB 11S - MS60 Opinions: 11D - I lightened the reverse to better show the details because I found the nice details and lack of any significant hits important... very nice reverse imo. Darker and less cleaned looking in hand. The MS'ish reverse in countered by the obverse with appears to have some rub on the cheak and above the ear (minimal but apparently there),, also has a lot of nics on liberty and lettering... dunno AU obverse and MS reverse = MS61 ? 83DD - I got this one simply as a conversation piece... it's in a RED holder, so begs the question, is the toning post slab, and if so, wt heck caused it. Or, is it an ANACS mistake, where the holder should have said RB. I can say the toning is pleasing to me and nicer in hand, the boarder of the dark and red is ringed by an explosive red orange tone that can be seen but not fully appreciated in the pics. 18S - I like the coin for the obverse details. This is one where I could see how the wear above the ear is mostly due to strike rather than wear because of the weak reverse strike,, telling me that most of the metal was pushed into the obv part of the die for some reason and could have imparted some flatness on the higher points in the design.... anyway,, nice obv strike, lots of details,,, and a weak rev strike with a few nics. 11S - No significant nics that I can see on obv or reverse,, maybe the marginal strike kept the grade at 60,, dunno,, imo it's an upgrade candidate. Which I really liked because of the date. Nice in had and has a good deal of brown luster. Awards for this set of cents: Best - Shoe - 2.0 > Hey,, from HA to top of the world.. good round ! HA - BadThad - 5.75 ,,,, the AU50 on the 83DD really hurt. Others: RLM's - 2.5 , for this round, solid. Louie2bits - 4.0 JustaFarmer - 4.0 , the au50 on the 11d hurt,, but you earned your 1st dropped score too, so overall grades are outstanding. SE-collect - 4.5 Duke - 3.75 A tougher round here. Round 10.. and another four.
Dah! I knew the 1911 and 1983 were going to give me problems :crying: Good round guys. So Baha...there will be 12 rounds before determining CoinTalk's best Cent Graders? -LTB
Yeah, not including the fun round after round 10 we'll have two more,,, ending the cent grading exercise and fun at 12 rounds and declaring the final standings.... Intense pressure, huh? .. then we can move on to another denominaton if there's interest. Yup, the tpg is a factor.
Yes please What's next...Nickels, dimes, quarters? Do you have a nice set of those too? Oh and something that would help is if when you post the next contest you would put a link into this thread as I missed that one and almost another with so many posts coming out it's easy to miss a new one.
