I think Peter said that it would be E-V-E-N-T-U-A-L-L-Y.

If memory serves me correctly, I think I recall a thread last year in which either Peter or one of the mods mentioned that the files/photos from the old albums were lost or corrupted when CoinTalk transitioned to the new software.

For a short while after the transition, one could view thumbnails of the old albums. Since then it appears they have been lost in cyberspace.

It's too bad, I had just put a ton of work into uploading a series of albums. It was also a lot of fun to peruse other member's collections. As you might expect some CoinTalkers have quite impressive collections.

Many of the albums are still here, but they are in no particular order. The link is immediately below "Support and Feedback" on the main page. I had to search through 30 pages to find most of mine. They are scattered over 6 different pages from 16-30. Some of my individual photos were lost, but it appears that nobody has editing or posting privileges for them.

As long as a forum like this is active and undergoes periodic software upgrades, features and sets of data files are going to be lost. I wouldn't sit around waiting for features to return when there are other options.

If you don't already, you ought to consider having your images hosted on a website like Photobucket (they offer very adequate free storage accounts). There you can manage (and edit) your images storing them in a library of albums on the site. Anytime you need an image to share on CT, just get the image URL from PB and paste it in a CT (or other forum's) thread. So long as you allow the "public" setting on Photobucket, anyone can peruse your images on that site. (Note that you should carefully consider what you make public and private with your collection safety in mind.)

Furthermore, if you host images on another site, you can delete images from threads on CT long after you can no longer edit the thread on CT. If you want people to have access to perusing your collection on Photobucket, just place a link in your CT profile page to your images on the other site.

You don't have to wait for such a feature to be reinstated on CT only to be changed again or images lost, again, with the next forum update. Give it a try.

Nothing was lost or corrupted, all of the member albums are still there right where there they always were - http://www.cointalk.com/forums/albums-cointalk.69/ - and any member can see any or all of them.

But you can't do anything to it, or with it. You can't add to it, you can't edit it, you can't organize it. All you can do is look at it. That is because the software that CT uses now does not support the album function like the old software did.

And yes, Peter has said that when, and IF, the company that makes this software ever gets around to adding an album function, then CT will have it once again. And it may not be the next software update or even the next 10 software updates. But in the meantime, what you find at that link I posted above is what you got.

www.imageshack.com (what I use) and a few others work great. you just dump your links into whatever forum, and you can share coin albums, individual photos, etc.
