Hello everyone, So I recently took all of my metal detected, found on ground, found in meters, found in Coinstar reject bins and normal day to day change from shopping to my local cashier and dumped them into the Coinstar. $200.44 after the service fee The interesting and confusing thing is that the following 2 Nickels kept getting rejected over and over again. I even put them in at the very end and both were rejected 3 times. They weigh 5.0 and 4.9 grams. They really don't have that much circulation wear to cause the rejection. I just can't figure out why I kept getting them back. I guess I will never figure it out. So strange!
Did you try rolling them on their edges on a flat surface? Although they don't look it, it may be that they are just ever so slightly out of round. Or it may be that the machine was suspicious that they looked so normal after you had fed it road kill and zombie coins risen from the ground.
So, the latest machine accepted all the previous CoinStar rejects and chewed up parking lot coins except those 2 nickels (that may or not have been rejects previously)?
Could be one of the previous roadkill nickels blocked the slot. Did it accept any other nickels after continuing to drop those?
No. I put in a ton of coins. There were a lot of my environmental toning damaged coins the were rejected. The other Nickels were totally accepted. These 2 just kept getting rejected over and over again. As I stated, after all my coins were counted I put in these in several times and they weren't accepted. It's just a big mystery!
I think the Speaker was broken. After the many coins deposited, it was asking: "DO YOU STILL WANT TO PLAY A GAME?"
No actually. I had the same issue with a quarter a few years ago. It kept rejecting it over and over again. I kept it but I never shared it on CoinTalk.
I left them the other rejects. Believe me when I say there were many. About 30 of the worst metal detected finds with plenty of environmental damage! The two nickels were definitely keepers, so they came back with me. How else would I be able to take pictures of them and create this neat thread for you?
