Coins to be on the look out for?

Since I'm a beginner that is interested in US coins, which ones should I be on the look out for? Just interesting ones or rare ones. I have a 30 pound plastic Coke bottle that is used as a piggy bank that I go through every once in a while.

I read the thread on the 1982 pennies and I found about twenty of them in the bottle.

1972 DDO cent
