Someone recommended that I look into the 1988 film "The Last Temptation of Christ" for my "Coins in Movies" internet section. I did and saw an old friend. A Roman gold coin appears in the film, held by a temple priest. Roman gold coin This coin is similar to the fake/fantasy Roman Lucius Verus (AD 161-169) coin below, but appears to be gold-plated. Tourist fake/fantasy Lucius Verus coin A bronze version of this coin appears in the 1975 film "The Man Who Would Be King". It may be a coincidence but both pictures were filmed in Morocco. This coin is a fantasy coin as no such real coin exists for Lucius Verus, the Roman co-emperor with Marcus Aurelius from AD 161 to 169. The coin, if real, would been struck long after the time of Christ. These items come in many varieties and are sold to tourists visiting ancient sites in Europe and Asia.
