I have heard about this film for a long time but only got around
    to ordering a DVD recently.

This 1987 film starred Debra Winger as a US Government investigator
who discovers that Theresa Russell has been marrying
wealthy older men and then killing them.

Theresa's third victim is a wealthy man who collects coins,
and Theresa educates herself on coins in order to share a
    common interest with him.

The page appears to be Plate 28 of Carthaginian Gold and Electrum Coins
by G.K. Jenkins and R.B. Lewis, published in 1963 by the
    Royal Numismatic Society (Great Britain)

Theresa smiles at her man after identifying one of his coins
She proves that she is interested and knowledgeable about coins

The coin he asks her to identify
The coin is a 5 Franchi silver crown of the Italian province of Lucca,
issued by Elisa Bonaparte and Felix Baciocchi, 1805-1814.
These are fairly common and pictures of them can be found on the internet.

Thanks for the presentation Willie. It's always fun to see something you're interested in presented in a movie, especially if it's factual. I never saw this movie but will look for it now because of the coin collector angle. If I recall correctly, some years ago there was an episode of Hawaii Five-O concerning a 1913 Liberty Head Nickel. It was an episode from the original series with Jack Lord.

I think you're right about that one Bruce. Here's my favorite from the golden age of TV... "The Rare Coin":

Now, yes. In 1987, of course, not so much. :)
