As most people are aware, Stevex6 is selling his collection. He collected some great coins, including many medieval ones. Despite depleting my 2017 coin budget, the coins were just to nice to pass up, so I decided to count the coins against my 2018 budget and buy two. It was hard to narrow it down, but eventually I made my selection, one of which was inspired by @Severus Alexander and a beautiful coin of his. Steve had so many wonderful coins I may even go back and purchase a couple more I had my eye on. The photos are the seller's and leave a lot to be desired. I'll have to try and improve upon them when time permits.

    Absolutely!!!

Those are wonderful examples!! Although I haven't returned to collecting medieval coins again, I would happily add both to my collection!:)

I was able to squeeze in one coin from the Stevex6 collection---this drachm--- and wish I could add a few more:hungry:

Nice job @TheRed ! I really do not collect Medieval , so I just blanked over them when I was looking at the SteveX6 Collection. And @Mikey Zee , great Drachm!

Here is my mini-hoard from the Collection:

I REALLY like this one as it has a spear head on the reverse. I believe it is to honor Philip's INVENTION of the 20ft Sarrissa that he revolutionized the Phalanx. The Makedonwn Phalanx was an incredible tool (along with the Thracian Wedge style of cavalry), that he was able to subdue Greece and enabled Alexander to conquer Persia.

I was also sorely tempted by that sword-from-the-clouds Lorraine demi-plaque, what a great coin! And you know I love the Visconti... here's my Gian Galeazzo (1395-1402) grosso that was inspired by the Stevex6 coin you bought, and which in turn inspired you:

Very nice!! I have no Greek coins, something I need to address this year. I did buy two X6 coins, both Roman.

That is a sweet drachm @Mikey Zee I don't know a thing about it other than I really want one like it.

That is quite the nice assortment of coins @Alegandron with the Demetrios I Soter AE 17 being my favorite.

Great coins @Nathan401 especially the Otacilia. A really nice coin for a tragic lady.

I just couldn't pass up the demi-plaque, even though it is completely out of my normal collecting areas.

Your grosso is such a great coin it has stirred an interest in Italian medieval coinage. I now find myself browsing for those coins. 2018 may be an Italian heavy year.

Now I know what this was supposed to be a copy of. Yes, bought as a fake for $5 but I think it is silver.

I picked up this coin because (a) I wanted to help Steve out (b) I wanted the coin to stay in the CoinTalk family and (c) look at the picture and see why!
