I was going through a bunch of foreign mint sets I bought last year in a large lot. I was taking pictures to post them on ebay. I couldn't help notice how fantastic this set looked compared to the rest. Most of them are dripping with luster and minimal marks. I decided to keep this set. They look nicer then most coins I own! Any Spain coin collectors out there want to comment on these? I assume there isn't anything special since it came in this type of package.
wow! WOW! W-O-W! Great coins. I have a big collection of an old Spanish coins, but your coins are glorious!!!
Very nice Sib man. Your knowledge and interest in world coins astonishes me. I have enough trouble learning about U.S. coins. I see yours are older and probably have value. Were they all minted in Madrid? I don't see mint marks on mine, just the mintage year in the star.
gbroke those are some very nice coins! I wish mine were in such great condition. And Siberian Man your coins continue to amaze me. If it's ok with you gbroke I'll share my favorite Spanish coin (I only have 3, lol) It's a 1941 5 Centimos.
Nice jterry. I see you are in Germany! I have a pretty large collection of German coins and paper money. My mother was born and raised in Bremerhaven, so a lot of it came from that side of the family.
Those Franco and Republic coins are basically obsolete. The pre-euro pieces (ie. those that were legal tender before the changeover) can be redeemed forever, but the old ones ... don't think so. And yes, those pieces shown here were minted in Madrid, except the 25 céntimos piece from 1937 which was minted in Vienna. In 1982 Spain ceased to use the old system with the production year in the star, and introduced the Madrid mintmark (M with a crown) instead, along with "actual" years. Christian
Nice Franco coins I photographed these two Spanish coins a couple years ago. They depict Alfonso XIII.
Collect89, Those are some great coins! You said you photographed them a couple of years ago, do you not own them still? Gbroke- Yeah I'm lovin Germany. I'm stationed here with the US Army and have really taken advantage of the ability to travel but have had to stop recently because my wife and I are expecting our first child in a couple of weeks.
Congratulations to you and the wife on the baby! Hope all goes well. My favorite German coin is the 5 mark (pictured in my avatar).
I still own the coins & I've found a few others too. At the January FUN show, I got a nice 5 peseta with Alfonso XIII. The reverse looks MS64 and the obverse looks like MS60. There is still one more Alfonso XIII on my wantlist. When I get it, I'll take photos & post here. Congratulations to jterry85 & the wife on the baby! Hope all goes well. They grow up fast.
