There are a lot of "hashtag days" or "trend days" out there that are now staples of the online world, like Monday Blues/Manic Mondays, Transformation Tuesdays, Throw Back Thursdays, etc. I've seen a fair number of coin dealers/companies who post Toner Tuesdays, but what about the other days of the week? I'm sure we could come up with a numismatic #Hashtag for each day of the week, or at least Monday through Friday. What's your best #Hashtag idea?
On Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc, the "#" symbol has a purpose. Once known mostly as the Pound Sign, it's now called a Hashtag, and makes anything put behind it a searchable keyword. So if I post a picture on Facebook and in the caption add things like "#Coins #Numismatics", anyone searching those terms will see my picture.
The whole hashtag thing is very idiotic in my opinion. I don't think topless tuesday's would be as popular as you'd think. There are a lot of old men who still deal coins...
Hashtags aren't idiotic ... they make the word a searchable topic, and anyone who clicks on say "#Coins" sees every post made by anyone who included it in their post -- making everything you post easy to find for the public, and makes it easier for the public to find what they're looking for. It's just a tool, and a good one at that.
