Dansco Album 7101 is labeled for Indian Head Cents but includes a few holes for the Flying Eagle Cents as well. Yay. Here's a photo tour of the album with my current selection of specimens. I have 4 holes to fill. Things to do, things to do, oh my. Spine... Cover... Back... Inside (a)... Inside (b)... Inside (c)... Inside (d)... ...to be continued...
Nice set! Are you planning to put something into the bonus empty spots? I know the Franklin Dansco has the same and I've used those to store some duplicates that I liked.
No plans for the empty spots. I tend to trade/sell any duplicates I have (typically from upgrades). Also, I have no plans to fill the '69/'69 hole and likely won't be filling the '77 or '09S holes. So basically I need one more coin - the '64 L - and I'll get a nice one so you can really see the L!
I don't have a Dansco, but I have 1940 Whitman that I started in 1948. It is covered with cellophane tape to keep it from falling apart. I always wanted to buy a new one, But, my wife says that book is me and my lifetime hobby and I should just leave it alone.
I have two complete sets of IHC's, one for each granddaughter. The 1877, '69/'69, and 1909s are the hardest to find in VF or better condition at a bargain price. Beware of fakes and choose wisely. Good luck
I should add that when I completed the series, it was only in G-XF. My 1877 was VG-ish but had a little machine damage across the headband. But I got it... and another 1877- for... eight bucks! There’s a story there, naturally. The rest were problem free, but sometimes only G4-G6 or so. It was an accomplishment on my then-even-tinier budget of the time (early-1990s). Vicariously watching others travel the same ground all these years later is a nostalgic and sentimental pleasure for me.
“Found in circulation”. THAT set is gonna take some time to complete! (Like a few lifetimes.) But bravo! Epic quest! (If a rather Herculean one...) It would be interesting for me- if I ever get around to imaging all of my old detector finds album- to see how far along I got towards a “dug from the ground” set. Made some respectable progress towards that in over two decades of detecting. No copper-nickels or key dates, but I did find a pretty sharp 1868 on an old plantation site, once. A homeowner who lived in a neighborhood I once detected heavily found an 1872 in her flower bed by sheer random luck, and showed it to me.
Sorry for the poor photo, but I hurried to pull these out of their folder and snap a picture. I put a 1863 Civil War Token to start with, just filling an empty space. All of mine are circulated, some far more than others, lol. But, they put a smile on my face, and that's what's important to me. Love CT.
Did I mention I recently started collecting IHC again, but with holes in them? That little cluster you see on my cork board is the beginnings of that collection. I’m also casually doing a holey 7070 set in parallel. Very casually. This is still early days on both.
