Does anyone know where I can get some decent information on say, a gold Altin of Suleyman the Magnificent? Kraus's Standard Catalogue of World Gold Coins has proven sadly inadequate...

Yeah, it might be transliterated a variety of ways, but basically I want to know about the gold coinage of the notorious Ottoman Monarch who reigned from 1520-1566...

Hi Preston, I have some good news for you. The October 7-8 regency Superior auction has a gold dinar of Suleiman the Magnificent. It is part of a coin lot #803. Besides the gold dinar you get a natural nugget 1/10 oz.,/Trajan silver didrachm, silver dinarius of Caracalla, Silver denarius of Gordian III. The PH is $350-$500 for the lot.
