For new coin collectors. The standard guide to coin values for US Coins is the Red Book. All experienced collectors have at least one copy of this book, usually more. I wouldn't bother buying a new one each year, and you might even find this at your local public library. It's a great source to start out with, but don't expect to sell your coins to a local dealer for the values stated in it.
