I'm thinking that some states in the US have more coins than others. May be wrong but what do you think? Does Philadelphia have more coins than the rest of the US? Denver? I don't think San Francisco does, but does anyone know? I've heard Illinois has a whole bunch of coins, what do you think?
I am guessing that depends on the population. When you have a major city with millions of people (NY, Chicago, LA, others) there are good chances that most of them will have coins. When you get into the areas where there are less people, and there is actually open fields and forests and whatnot, when the main population is woodland creatures and not people, odds are there will be less coins. Squirrels don't need coins (Although I have seen a squirrel pick up the cent I have outside for an experiment and lick it!) Also put this in perspective: Take say Rhode Island and compare it to Texas. I would wager that there are more coins in the state of Texas then RI any day of the week!
Most coins directly relates to number of people there. Most coins directly relates to number of people there. California, New York, who knows?
I don't think there's any way to know who has all the change. Where ever I travel, I've never had anyone tell me they were out of change, so I suspect there's enough just about all places. Guy~
You're right and there may not be a way for anyone to know for certain. But if there's a coin dealer on this forum who has traveled to various shows in the US, then they may have a fairly good idea what state has the most coin collectors and coins. Maybe not a foolproof answer on this but I'm sure someone has a much better idea than I do. :high5:
California has the highest population, the biggest economy, and a mint. I would be willing to bet the farm on that one.
I'll go with New York. It has a large population, a federal reserve, West point mint, wall street capital, and me.
My answer and guess is Philadelphia and the reason is b/c there are so many coins from surrounding states. just another 2 cnts
