Peter (and all): We had the nominations for the Thread of the week for last week. And the thread was closed. Was/will there be a winner declared? Or was it all about the nominations? [All: nominate this thread......pulllleez!!!!!!]
No offense, Treashunt, but I don't think it's such a great idea. On the surface, sounds good. But also makes it seem like we're back in elementary school looking for gold stars. No one needs to tell me which threads are my "stars" - I know that already. And then we end up with threads ABOUT the threads!! Too funny
My opinion, for what that's worth, is that the nomination is all that is necessary. It's not about competition, but about recognizing good info and posts. Being nominated IS the prize, it just shows that your peers think that your post was thoughtful and worthwhile too.
I fully agree. I had a thread nominated a while ago and I was quite proud that my peers seemed to think it was a worthwhile conversation. I don't care about getting a gold star or anything like that (I noticed that the TOTW stuff is no longer under our avatars and I'm fine with that). I was just glad to see that I was making a noticeable contribution to the community. I did receive some kind of automated PM about that thread and the TOTW thing, but it was pretty jumbled. It's clearly still a beta, as Peter has stated. Here is what the automated PM read if you guys are interested:
