The Houston Coin Show is in two weeks. I saw that an early bird pass is $60 while normal admission is $2. What good is an early bird pass and why would it cost so much?

    Thanks,

    IMHO,

Early Bird is usually only dealers and there are better deals then as the general public is not there.

You may have read it incorrectly. I have been to coin shows all over the United States, including the Houston show. Perhaps the rate you are referring to is a "table" rate for dealers to setup a table, or restricted to dealers only time. Enjoy the show ...Hook em horns! hehe

Early Bird passes are generally for vest pocket dealers but also any dealer to have the chance at inventory before the general public is let in the show. Coins during this time are closer to wholesale and the dealers have less demands or persons in front of them. This is also the time when many of the dealers setting up and have been in touch with the early birds and have have promised items to be brought in and traded, bought or sold.
