Hello everyone, today I went to my first coin show. :D And I managed to only spend 15 bucks. :high5:
I sold my 2005 Eagle and bought a 2002 eagle for a 5 buck difference.
Then there was this bucket with coins for only a dollar....
Or if you bought 12 it was only ten bucks... :D
SO I bought twelve and there was this weird coin that was labeled IRS BUILDING. I thought it was interesting and bought it. I looked it up and it is a 1893 Colombian Exposition token. And there was this AMAZING (in my opinion) 1978-S Jefferson nickel with blue toned hair. Here are some pics.

Doing a quick google search I found 2 tokens for sale. Both were around AU condition. One was $30 and one was $75. Nice find, I wish I could get lucky like that. All I have ever found in a $1 bin is a supposed penny blank planchet.

So this one is probably worth 5 and the grade is an AG-3?
Can I have some peoples opinions on grade? And a little history of the token.

The 1893 Token is from the 1892/3 Columbian Expo.

It is a common piece, and comes with both large & small lettering on the obverse.
Hard to tell, but I am pretty sure that yours is the small letters variety.

It is listed as H&K-154 and 155.
(H&K= Hibbler & Kappens "So Called Dollars").

    Value?
Probably about $5 in the condition shown, AG.

I absolutely cannot believe that you found a token that worn!!! WOW! Nice find. Like Treasurehunt said there are two types Sm letters and Lg letters. There is a bunch of history around these so-called dollars. Pics are attached for your reference. Hope you had fun at the show.

Got mine on ebay. The small letter is more difficult to find than the large letters and will cost a bit more. You can find these both slabbed and raw.... I preferred mine slabbed. :p Searching for these medals raw can be quite fun, because someone may have a small letter and not know the difference. If you know what to look for you may make a nice score.... I think they call this cherrypicking. BTW Freaky, yours is the large letter variety.

I am not 100% sure he knew what it is. The label just said "IRS BUILDING"
I thought it looked cool. :goofer:
