Just got back from the Washington/Baltimore Coin Show. Pick up the 1964D NGC MS66 Kennedy Half Dollar. I don't care for kennedys but this was in a dealers bucket of coins for $5 and thought I should be able to get $10-$15 for it on ebay and buy something I like so picked it up. Here are some pictures and the nice suprise I got.

I am not sure which Doubled Die this is maybe #1, 2 or 6. I don't know!
Any ideas what this may be worth?

    $5 is a dog-gone good deal!
I'm not sure but I think NGC would have put the DD...are you sure its not machine doubling??
I have done the same thing...picked up a coin for resale....and sometimes just set them back and use them for trading...they work pretty good that way.

I thought $5.00 was a good deal as well and thought it was a fantastic deal when I saw the DD. I looked it up in The Encyclopedia of Doubled Dies Volume 1 by John Wexler. It appeares to be die#6. Would NGC mark it if the submitter had not requested attubution?

I think they will....ANACS will on most things like that but sometimes they charge...I would think NGC would put it there no matter what....

I have seen other coins advertised as DD but not on holder. I wish I would have noticed before I left I could have brought it to the NGC table. Oh well.

How busy was the Baltimore show? Did you get to see the new ANACS slab?

I really don't know what to compare it to. This was the first time I went to this show I usually go to small shows that are tight packed barely enough room between tables for people to be looking and trying to squeeze by.
It snowed the night before although not as bad as prediction. I drove 75 miles without any trouble but I'm sure some people stayed home.
I stopped and talked with ANACS for opinions on some of my coins but didn't notice there new slab. Thats the one thing about this show I did not like most of the coinage was slabbed and I was looking for raw!

That is an interesting observation. At the small shows I go to there is about 75% raw and 25% slabbed. Were there more PCGS, NGC, or ANACS?

I was excited about going to this show becuase was the first big show I've been to. But, I've relized what I have with the small shows I go to. The small shows tend to have more raw coins on hand for the small time collectors like me.
Didn't really take notice to which slab was more prevalent as I walked be the booths I only saw 'Plastic' that I was not interested in looking at.

When I talked to Mr Taylor a few months ago he said they they didn't have a new holder and it was all talk....he said that by the first of the year they might have one...I'm to call him again and he is going to up-date me on the holder topic....

I was so excited about this DD I forgot to mention I also found the following:
    Jefferson 1942 P/P RPM#10
    Jefferson 1942 P/P RPM#13
Jefferson 1938 D with Dramatic Machine Doubling (Never seen it like this before, at least I hope it is only machine doubling because I threw its sister back into the bucket)

Also this is for Speedys HYPE. To fill my holes I bought a:
    04 Proof Peace Nickel $8.00
    04 Proof Keelboat $4.00
each of the P&D for $.50 each total $2.00
That totals $14.00 - Sold 2004 Westward nickel set for $46.00 last week!

I wish I could do this all the time I could afford a real collection!

Same dealer was trying to sell Bison & Ocean Proofs for $12.00 each!!!!!
You can still purchase the 6 nickel set from the Mint at $12.95! PURE HYPE!

They do have a new holder design, and it is going to be shown publicly at FUN in January. I heard that it is going to be as big as NGC and PCGS slabs.

Thats a shame out of all the slabs ANACS has the casing I personnally like the most because it is small and NGC the least because its so bulky! I guess I'm the odd one out again!

I agree with you Nickelman. I like the current ANACS slab better than PCGS and NGC slabs because of its size. :(

Well.......when was this told...??...is it anywhere that I can read it?
I also saw that PCGS got a new President.
