I got back from town a little while ago. Had to make a quick trip to the printers so I stopped in the local shop to see what he had. The dealer was putting up some new material and asked me if I wanted to look thru it before he put it out. I said "SURE." I had a really nice 1853 3-Cent Silver in my hand and was about to "Ring It Up" when I noticed this really nice 1912 Barber Half. I thought it was one of those rare ones at the end of the series and being unfamiliar with the series and not checking the RedBook on the counter I figured I had a find of the lifetime at $40... Hmm, the HTF ones are 1913-1915... It is a pretty coin so I'll keep it, as it's 45 miles into town and don't feel like returning it. They do have a two week return policy B
The three cent silver was in F-12/15ish condition and he wanted $33 for that one, a much better deal. I'll go back and get it next week (if I have the cash and if it's still there ) when I pick up the ads. B
The barber design is superior to the walker design, in my opinion. Barbers and Morgans were just about the high point in US coin production.
I would love to do a set of Barber Halves but don't know if that will ever happen.... Right now I'm trying to work on completing my PF66 Franklin set...boy do I have my eye set on a piece of eye candy....WOW.... Speedy
