Does the New Zealand Post Office use a different system of mathematics than the rest of the world?

This question is coin-related because it's about the stamp on an envelope received from New Zealand, containing a silver 1876 20 sen coin I recently purchased on EBay. :p

The NZ$2 stamp has a picture of a New Zealand one penny stamp, and the legend:

    150 Years of Stamps
    1855-1905
    1901 Universal Postage

Can any of our NZ members explain the wording

Roy - New Zealand' s first stamp was issued in 1855. So, 150 years from issuance of their first stamp. They joined the UPU in 1901 - that inscription has no relevance really.
