I'm not quite new to the hobby but i'm new to this forum, but by the looks of things, it seems like there are plent of helpful people here... i was just wondering what everyone's opinion on coin refrence/price guides are....as far as price guides go, i have a couple red books and 2004 Guide to American Coins is the only refrence book i have soo far...Any others worth getting?

Since your fairly new,I recommend subscribing to Coin World News Paper which has a monthly coin prices magazine included with it. Not only is this up to date, but you'll also be able to keep up on current events within the hobby. a definate win-win situation. ~ Jim

Howdy sborder285 - Welcome to the Forum !! I see your expanding your interests ;)

Both Coin World and Numismatic News publish price guides once a month that come as part of the magazine subscription. Just remember - price guides are just guides. Many coins actually sell for substantialy less than the values listed in them.

Please remember that all coin guides have retail prices. These are not the prices that you will get at the coin shop. Dealers use the Grey Sheet for buying and selling. Coinworld is fantastic, along with Coins, and Coinage magazines. Read a lot and buy a little!
