Can anyone help me ID this coin. I don't have catalogs for this time period. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated (i.e. Country, material, value...). It's a dark coin, so hopefully there is enough detail in which to ID the coin.

Just to give some extra information: Liege was a powerful prince-bishopry in the Southern Netherlands which was laying out of the Habsburg lands. In fact, it was ruled for ages by the Wittelsbach family, the ruling family of Bavaria. The prince-bishopry stayed independent until 1795, when it was occupied by French Revolutionary troops and incorporated in what would become later the kingdom of Belgium.
The legends on your coin stand for I(ohannes) THEOD(orus) CAR(dinalem) D(ei) G(ratia) BAV(ariae) D(ux) EP(iscopus) ET PRIN(ceps) LEO(dinium) DUX B(ullionensis) M(arquis) F(ranchimontis) C(omes) L(ossensis et) H(orniensis) and mean : John Theodore, cardinal, by the grace of God duke of Bavaria, bishop and prince of Liege, duke of Bouillon, marquis of Franchimont, count of Loon and Horn.

Fred, I've got to know where you are picking these coins up. I'm not far from western NY, and it would be well worth a trip down there to me. :D

    Topher,
There's pretty much a coins show every month as part of the BNA (Buffalo Numastmatists Association), the next I believe is next month. When I get the date, I'll PM you with the details on our forum board.

Please do. Only about a 90 minute drive give or take a few. My wife will think I'm crazy, but then again, she already does! LOL
