Hello I would like to know how people take pictures of their coins to sell. I tried my camera but it does not come clear. What is the best way without buying anything.
Without buying any extras, you are going to have to figure a way to do it with your camera. What type of camera are you using?
Using a scanner will probably work for most purposes. However, the images will tend to be flat and dull. I've never been able to capture any luster or toning with a scanner. There may be others here who have had better experiences using them than I have.
If you have a common point and shoot camera, it needs to have a macro setting. Set your camera to macro and try different techniques with lighting. You should be able to get a good picture that way. Although some have success with scanners, JG is right, the pictures are flat and washed out; not a very good representation of the actual coin to be sold IMO. -LTB
You really should mention the type of camera your using. If it's a digital one and has a memory card, you should be able to take thousands of photos so eventually a few should work OK. Since you don't want to spend more money, you may want to try this. Take you coin(s) outside if possible. Not in direct Sun but on a Sunny day. The additional light outdoors helps alot. Next find a place with a dark background so there is less reflective problems. Hold you camera as steady as possible and remember this, don't breath whild taking photos. As you breath your chest expands and contracts and your arms move with that. So while taking photos, don't breath.
I've notice that on your posts so far with pictures they look pretty good. What were you using for those?
Ok, you had me puzzled. Earlier in this post you said you were going to try a scanner but that was after you already posted the pictures on the other threads.
