Ok, ive got my coin photos pretty close to perfect. I can make a mintmark the size of my hand, and it will still be as clear as looking through a microscope. Ive nailed how to capture toning, and the only thing that give me trouble are RB coppers. Ok, the real point of this post. Im going to try and start making money off this. How much should i charge? What should i offer? I would like to know by saturday, because im going to a coin show on sunday, and hope to hand out flyers. Thanks in advance!
I say charge about 2 dollars a picture, and charge extra if they want you to edit it. I like the Kodak machines that are avalible in a lot of drug stores.
acually, i have, and have had absulutly NO problems with it! I surprised myself when the first picture turned out good, and the second, great!
That's cool. Would you possibly have any photos you could post? It took me a really long time to get the hang of it. Here's one of my recent ones: Higher resolution: http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w129/TopLineDmpls/Dollar/1882-SDMPL/gallery2.jpg
Yeah, ill get some up tomorrow. Right now, i gotta get headed to bed, because iv'e gotta get up for work tommorrow morning. (working in my neighbors stables.)
Ok, my friend couldn't come over today, and he is the morgan man, and has DMPL's. I don't. Iv'e goten great pictures of his. Im moving my coin studio right now, so it will be awhile before i get new pics up. But going through an old album, i found an example of my micro photography. This is a "T" in "One Cent" On the reverese of a wheatie.
Ok, most of all of this was garage sale deals, so other than than the camera and tripod, i got the set-up very cheep. I use a Canon S3 IS That you can get off of broadwayphoto.com for 289.99. I don't use any fancy lenses or anything. I have the camera, a tripod, 4 lamps, 2 with halogen floods, and two with GE reveals. I have my camera set to aperture prioity mode, i have +1.0 over exposure, wieght balence centered, and shooting in super macro mode. But watch out for those halogen floods, ive ruined a couple slabs with them before. (Left the lamps on, with coins under them.)
Just like "friction" is an engine's worst enemy; heat and silver coins do not mix..be wary of potential artifical toning if you leave that coin exposed to the heat for to long...nice pic's though. Click,,click..click
So, no special lens is required to get that kind of microphoto? I thought you guys were using microscopes hooked up to your computers to get those shots!
Others might, but im not. I just take the picture as large as i can, and if needed downsize it on the computer.
