I am in the process of building up my site. The Penny, Two-Cent, Three Cent, and Dime pages are all finished but need to be updated to the new page format. All the rest of the pages except the Barber Half-Dollar have pictures but are blank. Also all the pages except the Barber Half-Dollar page have images that are not taken by me, these pages are demos and I will put up images owned by me soon, the page has not been advertised yet so that is why some images are not owned by me on there. I would like to know what you guys think of THIS page only, yes I know the Grade/Value page isn't completely finished yet but you get the idea. Anything you think should be added, changed, taken out, added to? I want your opinion please. Navigate through the links on Half-Dollar Page.

The branch on the reverse is an olive branch. You are incorrect when you give a blanket statement that there are no key or semi-key dates within this series since it will depend on the grade range that you collect or search for. There are quite a few much better date Barber half dollars depending on the grade that you wish to obtain.

I like it. Nice info, mintage figures, very well organized. Good job.

Well what I consider a key date or semi-key date are coins that have a significantly less mintage than the others. For example the 1909-S VDB Wheat Cent is considered a key date because while it has around 500,000 as its average mintage is 50 Million - 300 Million which is significantly less. I am probably wrong to think that though, what is the numismatic definition for key date and semi-key date?

    Thanks numismatist

The reason I started this was because I could USUALLY find the info I needed on coins, however only after visiting four different sites, I am trying to create a site where all the information you need is kept in one organized place. That is why I am asking if there is information that you would like to see on coins I need to add it here.

I don't know that there is a hard and fast rule for what would constitute a key date. Your example of the 1909-S VDB Lincoln is an excellent one in that it is universally regarded as a key date by collectors yet is available all the time and in any grade range. It would be tough to find someone to argue against putting that Lincoln in a key date basket, but it would also be tough to go to any mid sized or larger show and not find multiple examples in nearly every grade.

What is a key date, then? I don't know. I would imagine any coin with a very small extant population either overall or relative to other coins in the series would qualify, though I would not be offended if others did not agree with me on that point. It is up to you how you would like to define the term since it is your site and as long as you had some sort of logic behind your reasons then it would be a valid statement.

    Very nice looking site! :)

Your site says "Coins from the 1700's to Today!"... That's great. I'm looking forward to seeing the Pre-Federals section too! ;)

Overall, I like it! Nice work!

Some constructive criticism, and admittedly Kind of a nit pick (but I can be a bit anal)...

I don't think "Half-Dollar" should be capitalized or hyphenated. I don't think "Quarter Dollar" should be capitalized either. I'm not quite sure what to do with "Liberty Head", but I'd likely just capitalize "Liberty" (because it is referring to the person, Liberty) and not "head".

By the way, I was probably too strong in my comment that you were incorrect regarding key date Barber half dollars since my statement was written within the context of how I view the term "key date" and this might not be the same definition you will or have used on your site.

I think you had a strong point there. For that I will change it to they all have relatively the same mintage with few exceptions. As for the capitalization thing that is something I like to do, to me it looks more organized but I am open to hear more opinions on it.
