Hi i was wondering what grade this Morgan silver dollar is and how much you would bid for it? Its in rough shape but still looks like a decent price to me.

    Thanks

Including S/H it's still under melt, so if you want some scrap silver, go for it. Otherwise observe the red flags:
    • "I dont know how to grade coins but i was say its in great condition considering what year it is."
    • Feedback Score: 64 (After more than 4 years. )
    • Positive Feedback: 98.5%

    Hi doughmaking,

Just wondering, are you looking to buy a Morgan as a gift for someone, or are you interested in collecting coins for yourself?

BTW, I can't tell for sure, but if the rims are full, I would call it a G-4, if not, an AG-3.

Question for the more knowledgeable. For a Morgan in that condition, is it normal for that much of LIBERTY to show and in that clarity? I never noticed before but I always thought LIBERTY was one of the first places to go.

    That's a good question.

On many coin designs, The headband, or the ribbon, which includes the word "LIBERTY", is a high spot on the coin, therefor it is usually one of the first areas to get worn away during circulation.

This isn't the case with Morgan dollars. "LIBERTY" is actually a low spot on the design, and is often very bold even when there is little more than an outline of the bust remaining.

Looks like a fantastic pocket piece to me. If bought at 5 or 6 dollars.

ND is right. I carry around an 1879s Morgan thats in a little better shape than that one. It makes for a great conversation and is just plain fun to do. I definitly would not go over $9 on a bid.
