All I know is this is a Stately Prince coin and it features Hanuman, which is a Hindi God. I think that's the name, I will leave the cut and paste and pics below. What I really need is the date. thank you India Princely States Coin
It's unlikely that the date is in VS since the Hindi numeral 1945 is prefixed with Hindi word 'San' which usually means 'year in AD'.
Ratlam state paisa. Date is actually VS 1945 -- 1888. Krause is wrong in saying it is VS 1947 and the book on Ratlam coinage gives the right date as it should be. kidromeo the "Sa" actually means "Vikram Samvat" here. These coins were restuck in the 1940's on the thinner planchet.
At least I read the year numbers right :kewl: and wrongly read 'San' for year and now after V's correction, it does appear like 'Sa'
Also are they worth anything? My guess is the date is in Sanskrit, hope I spelled that right. Oh and for clarification is the date 1947 or 1945 and what year in the American calendar? I just looked up "Vikram Samvat" on google, very interesting I have to check out more when I get home. much appreciation I bought the coin on ebay as I was much amazed by the Hanuman monkey and the story about his Godliness. Facinating! Anyways, I should receive it anyday now. :thumb:
This coin is worth $3.5 in F grade and the date is 1945 VS as V pointed; which is 1888 in English calender.
I just may do that. The idea sounds lucky to me and at this point I have nothing to lose but I think I will wait until I get the Hanuman monkey coin in hand to maximize my chances. I don't know why but God's always seem to do well for me.
Yeah, help yourself. I took it from someone else anyways. Check out this ebay number 300344798450, I think it's the same Hanuman coin that I have above. Can anyone tell if it's the same coin?? Oh man, I read that wrong!! $0.54 cents. Yeah, that's all it's going for is 54 cents!! Wow, put the burn to me!
