CoinHoards is a component of the National Endowment for the Humanities funded Hellenistic Royal Coinages project developed by the American Numismatic Society (ANS). An innovative research resource, CoinHoards provides primary data and other information on 2,387 hoards of coins produced by Greeks and other non-Roman peoples in the Mediterranean and adjacent regions between ca. 650 and 30 BCE. In addition to a basic description, users will find on the page devoted to each hoard mapping tools for the findspot and mint(s) where the coins found in the hoard were produced, bibliographical references, and a list of the hoard contents.

Thank you. For funzies, I did a quick check for Carthaginian Empire (under Authority)... only THREE Hoards 1915, 1957, and 1966... Looks like the Romans were DETERMINED to exterminate them!

    A dilapidated Bull...

This is amazing! Funny that there are no Serapis coin hoards outside of Egypt. I figured there would be a few in magna Graecia.
@PeteB, I was able to view pics after I selected the denomination. Wonderful things...

Pretty cool. There were 104 finds in Egypt, starting with Greek tetradrachms around 500 B.C. and ending at circa 1 B.C. with Ptolemaic offerings. The Roman period is not discussed.

    Thats an emaciated bull.

The type is commonly found hidden under Roman Sardinian sextantes such as this - note the star on Mercury's cheek is that above the Sardo Punic bull. Screenshot_20200620-020333_Flickr.jpg

I really enjoy the overstrikes from this period.

The Seller at a show sold this to me as an unidentified Janiform...

The RR Sextans overstruck on a Hieron II made a cool Janiform
