I have a growing collection of non graded Raw CC Morgans and I want to have them graded which grading company would be the best to send them in too? I have never sent any coins in before but have bought a lot all ready graded. I have a 1883 CC Morgan that I pick up on Monday in raw form, I will have all but 4 of the years collected now and I'm getting into the real pricy ones now. Any Advice on which service to use would be helpful and how I should go about it. Should I send them in myself or talk to a coin shop about sending them in? Thanks in advance Terry
Learn how to grade the coins first and determine whether they're worth the cost associated with submitting. Just because they're CC Morgans does not mean they should automatically head for the TPG. You should also read both PCGS's and NGC's websites on their standards of grading, designations, and attributions. That can help you decide.
I'm not worried they are not real because that I'm sure of. They are in MS State except for the 4 78's I have and the coin shop has offered me money on them too, but the others are real nice and and the coin shop I mostly deal with is very good and he has 3 shops in the area. I'll will look over the websites and see what I need to do.
If you are certain, for whatever reason, that they are worth the investment of time, effort or money to get certified then I will state that they would likely be best sent to PCGS followed by NGC with really no other alternative. I write this because for at least the last dozen years these are the only two certification services that have provided a consistent liquidity within the market across the spectrum of US coins. At this point in time, with the idea of the grading service industry relatively mature, it would be mighty tough for a new entrant to displace their positions and might be even tougher for an existing company to somehow repair its reputation and surge ahead of PCGS and NGC. In truth, my segment of the hobby-industry (classic type and superbly toned coins) greatly prefers PCGS holdered coins, but I do not see this preference to be quite so strong in the Morgan dollar niche. Both services allow individuals to submit coins on their own, but many prefer to work with someone else. Good luck.
The ones I have now I would like to have Graded the last remaining Morgans I will buy already graded as they are the priciest of the bunch and I want them to be NON COUNTERFEIT and I'm sure they are the ones that get counterfeited the most, so I will buy already slabbed. I better start saving My Money Now Thanks Guys for the input.
