View attachment Doc1.pdf I found a coin/token while taking down the plaster walls in my house built in 1901. The face is George Washington and reads "The Constitution Adopted Sept. 1787." The back is the Liberty Bell. At the bottom it reads "1887 Liberty Bell" and the rest reads "Proclaimn Liberty throughout the land....Constitution's Centennial"....Would anyone be able to help figure out what it is. I've looked for it online and cant find anything like it View attachment REV Bell.pdf
Sounds like a medal or token made to commemorate the 100th year of the Constitution. But, yeah, pics are needed to confirm anything.
Resize it to a smaller size. I use PIXresizer (Freeware). I think I downloaded it from MajorGeeks.com
Really cool. Wish I could see the pic. It won't open on my computer. If you plan to use forums much and post pics, the best thing you could do is open a photobucket account. They have unlimited storage space for free. It will automatically downsize your pics when you upload them there. Then each one will have a link you can copy from their website and paste to a forum. It shows up as a link in your post but the pic pops up once you submit the post. You can edit pics there too. Great service.
There seem to be seveal diferent designs of these tokens. Here is a link to two simialer items on eBay. http://cgi.ebay.com/1887-WASHINGTON-CONSTITUTION-CENTENNIAL-MEDAL-TOKEN-/220798388715?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item33689c09eb Link only went to one.
I can see both pics. Not a coin but a token. Still, a pretty cool find. Many times a tradesman would slip a coin into an area of the house, that he was helping to construct, for good luck. Savor and treasure the piece......
