Have you folks seen these so called Coin Cracker devices yet? They're available on Ebay and probably elsewhere. I guess the idea is that anyone possessing one of the tools can use it to crack open slabs without damaging them. My concern is that certified coins may be at risk of being tampered with. What is to prevent some unscrupulous person from popping open a slab with a MS-65 coin in it and replacing it with a lesser grade speciman? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...Sell_LogicX&refwidgettype=cross_promot_widget
The ad says "safely opens most certified coin cases without harming person or contents." I'm not sure it is capable of opening without damaging the slab. But if it is, AND someone can reseal the slab and make it look good, then it's a real concern.
did anyone else realize its a dang DREMEL that has been messed with? it even has the DREMEL case - i got the same case with mine lol
I was thinking the exact same thing. I bet you could just easily make or buy an attachment that would do the same thing, at a much better price.
I was going to say the same thing. That's a dremel case with slots for various bits. Then again, whatever company that is could have contracted dremel to produce these things for them. It looks like a specialized dremel with a modified head. Just sell the head for $20
OH MY .. i just noticed.. in his auction, on the DREMEL case .. the address is down the street from me :ack: i feel sick!
they use little creatures called sonics who run around and seal the cases? Each time that you crack one open a sonic gets his wings.
the slabs sit in a room and have to listen to a loop of richard simmons talking. the plastic goes crazy, shakes violently, and the resulting friction causes the two edges to melt together.
wait..... wait..... - a SONIC did just get his winbgs. its sad to see all those 'sonics' flying around knowing each one represents a cracked slab
Vise-Grips are much cheaper, safer, and vastly more effective... http://www.irwin.com/irwin/consumer/jhtml/brandProducts.jhtml?brand=Vise-Grip
Are these the creatures? Thanks, everyone. How would I learn anything if I didn't have the CT experts to educate me?
I'll agree with that. I've used a vise, slight pressure to open, stick in scrwdriver and pry. About half the time opens with no damage to the slab. Could have replaced coin, sealed with plastic glue and hardly noticable.
I can see it now..hey Marta lets buy that coin cracker. we can now open them pesky certified coin holders .I guess, we can throw out the vise and screw driver..what a foolish thing to sell. Let alone the idiot that buys it, Bruce
