My wife had passed a few months earlier from cancer, and I was sitting alone watching HSN and I believe Coin Vault, and was not a coin collector at all. But it allowed me to refocus on something else besides feeling depressed. I got muscled in to buying auto ship state quarters yet have not purchased on TV since. I have also met some new interesting people! How about any of you guys?
My deepest condolences on the death of your wife. I have nothing good to say about the State Quarter auto ship program.
hi Silver soul. sorry about your loss. I escape through my coins. I find it very relaxing. showing people my coins and seeing their coins makes so happy. funny how these round metal discs can do that. nothing like a great coin to make me feel good.
Also my condolences sir. I find the "side benefits" of coin collecting to be the real reason to collect. All of the history, geography, artistry that I have been exposed to that I otherwise wouldn't have been. Not to mention the comraderie of other like-minded souls. If coin collecting were only buying little blobs of metal, I wouldn't really be interested.
I, too, am very sorry for the loss of your wife. Coin collecting is a great hobby, and as you explore more and more about the history related to coins and their origins, you may find it to be a great way of easing your mind. The memory of your wife will always be there, but if she were able to tell you one thing at this point, it would probably be that you have to get on with your life............just don't buy any coins on TV! Chris
Like most here, I have met a lot of great people through coin collecting. It's nice to have friends with similar interests, but it goes beyond that as well. Not to mention I love history, so coins play into that quite nicely. The side benefits are endless. Guy
