Not exactly searching through coin rolls but I do check what the coin machine has every now and then. Recently posted on the ancient forum about ancient coins that was deposited in the machine. Decided to see what I found in the half dollar bag today.
I do, saves us $200+ per visit for a technician to just look at it, most of the time it’s a simple fix that we can take care of unless we need to replace parts or software issues
Me too!! I've tried to get access to the coin star machines with no success. Kudos to you. Sound like a nice way to supplement your hobby.
So, the machine separates the coins by value? Not sure when you say "half dollar bag" what you are referring to. Please elucidate.
Yes it is. Way back in the 50's I used to stop by the shop where juke boxes and pin ball machines were maintained. Being a nice kid that he saw everyday on my way home from school, I would help him just for fun. Of course he loved he idea of me sorting and rolling change from the machines. He didn't mind at all if I made some swaps. We were both happy.
Yes the machine sorts the coins by pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, half dollars, and small dollars (Susan B Anthony and current small dollar coins)
From your photo, it appears that the smaller coins (or is that all debris?) should have been rejected. Previous posts have indicated that CoinStar machines have a "secret" bin for larger denominations of silver coins, does yours? Just curious on how they work. I even found the patent for CoinStar machines, but it didn't list the parts, just numbered them.
Mostly debris from that bag, probably a penny or two that got thrown in there during the collection, no secret bin in this machine, but if you were to deposit big dollar coins like Ike dollars it would usually show up in the reject bin on the outside or inside since there’s no sensor for those particular coin and no deposit bin allocated for that size
