It's been a while since I have written a thread on here. I have responded to many, but just haven't made the time to post anything of my own. A while back, I wrote about the after school club I started at the middle school where I work. The original club was geared towards collectors of all things. They would bring their collections, share, and learn. Yesterday was the first day of the coin club. It is my special project to get the kids fired up about numismatics. Today was the second day. I have a few hardcore club members and a few stragglers. It's great though. Some of the things I am planning include special guest speakers, designing your own coin, getting parents involved for possible chaperone's to a coin show, ethics, history, art, how to do research, the minting process, coin types, odd denominations, etc... I'm really psyched about it. I think they are too.
I have read your earlier threads regarding the collection club, I think its great what you are doing, and I'm glad to see you are planning some interesting stuff for them. Whichever of those categories of knowledge you wish to present, there are people on the forum who can probably help direct you to useful reference sites. Let us know what you decide to do, good luck.
