ug ug Generally NO with notable exceptions. Every time I read this question, which is too often, I think, why on God's earth are you going to clean your coins? If your gonna do it, first see the thread on cleaning coins up above in the first section of coin talk, and secondly you need to ask Doug to borrow a Cement Mixer...which is absolutely necessary for such cleanings. Ruben
Yes normaly I don't clean my coins due to the fact that it decreaces's the value . But i have a wheat back that has so much crud on it that you cant even read the date . I need to know how to clean it up just a little so i can read the date how do i go about that?
Ruben that is a very valid idea, but a waterpick doesn't have enough pressure. There is a jewelry pick that is available that uses very high pressure to clean gunk out of crevices in jewelry( several thousand $), but the best hope is to try a dentist's water descaler. Maybe there is a dentist or dental student on the forum who could try. Jim
Unfortunately I don't have my ultrasonic scalier yet or I would try...I don't know if that would damage the coins or not. Again, I don't have one yet...I don't think we get issued that until next year.
Ruben, he was the "Rabbi " in the local production of "Fiddler on the Roof". However, the beard is real. Jim
