Hi guys and gals, So tomorrow, my dad and I plan on taking a trip (w/ the metal detector) down to "Coin Beach", also known as the Indian River Inlet down in southern Delaware, south of Dewey Beach. I don't plan on finding and dubloons are coins from the Faithful Steward Shipwreck that crashed off the coast 200+ years ago, but hopefully may get a few hits with the Metal Detector. There were a few storms that hit down there over the past week so if I play the tides correctly hopefully I could get a hit. I'll Keep you posted- (Thanks Snaz)! Here's some information on the ship : http://www.discoversea.com/Faithful_Steward.html
Wow, Dewey Beach. That brings back some memories. I camped out around that area back in the mid 70's. Good luck and let us know what you find. Lou
Unfortunately I found nothing, as expected. I detected most of the shoreline for about 4 hours but not even a blip. Indian River inlet/beach is very clean and very beautiful, however. I did get to experience the sights and sounds of the beach of lower delaware so that was a plus. Oh well, I guess i have to stop by the school tomorrow and redeem myself with dirty clad.... Greg
Greg, I have had the same results on the beaches in Fl., but have found wheaties, and some silver in state parks. shawn
Yeah this part of the coast that I detected on is not as populated as some of the other beaches on the DE coast (Bethany, Dewey, Rehoboth, Fenwick) so not even an iron/foil blip made it up onto my detector. I'll have to hit up the old houses around me someday...
