Wolf22t,they're good coins, especially the Canadian silver $1.You have only posted the reverse of the West German 5 Deusche Mark coin. You should have posted the obverse as well. Then that way we can guess what
    they could be worth.

I wouldn't be jumping out from the chair screaming lotto though. I don't see them with much value, perhaps on average 2-5 dollras, but I believe the Polish 10 groszy and 1925 Lithunian coin may be more valuable than what I think.

The 1958 Canadian dollar is worth $10 or $12 Canadian.

Wolf, the 1916 1/2 Mark is a German coin from the reign of Kaiser Wilhelm II (ruled 1888-1918).

The silver one is rather obviously a privately minted medal commemorating the fall of the Berlin Wall, since it has the date the wall was finally breached, and a depiction of the Brandenburg Gate, which was the official point of passage between East and West Berlin during the existence of the wall.

The gold one is also some kind of commemorative piece, which perhaps Chrisild or some other German speaking member can identify for you.

Right, both pieces are medals - and I am not sure whether the second one is actually gold. Maybe gold plated silver.

The gate passage was open until 1961; the construction of the Berlin Wall actually closed it. If you watch Billy Wilder's hilarious movie "One, Two, Three", you see (more or less) how it was before August '61. Between then and November '89 the Brandenburg Gate was closed. It was on East Berlin ground but so close to the border that even from the East (Unter den Linden) nobody was allowed to approach the Gate.

The other medal commemorates the "re-unification" in 1990, ie. when the Eastern states joined the Federal Republic. That was on 3 October 1990. On the side depicting the 16 German states it apparently says "1. Oktober" though; not sure why. The other side shows an eagle which is supposed to resemble the German federal eagle. Except that this bird has some kind of CoA in the middle which I cannot recognize ... and is looking in the wrong direction. :D

The words on the "map side" mean "Germany reunited". And the text on the eagle side are the first words of the national anthem - Einigkeit und Recht und Freiheit, ie. Unity and Justice and Freedom.
