Thanks to all who entered the first few giveaways! Now to the last!

    Here are the rules:

    1. To enter simply state "entry post." Only one entry post per member, but you may select another member to receive the prize.

    2. Tell the forum why you like the coin, post something coin related. A pet picture will always suffice if you don't have the first two things!

Entrants must have 25 coin related posts.

Contest is open to all CT members. Free shipping to the winner, domestic or international.

Please do leave a message once the coin has arrived!

I'll draw the winning entrant on the evening of November 19th using a random number generator based on entry order.

For our final installment a little something from my collecting focus, German States minor coinage. This pfennig is approximately dime sized and was minted in Dresden in 1863 for the Kingdom of Saxony. Featuring the coat of arms of Saxony, this coin is graded MS64RB by PCGS.

entry post - I have always been a sucker for these German States minors, and think that this one will gradually go a lovely satiny-mahogany in tone.

    "entry post."

I like it because I carry a much newer 1950 1 pfennig with me for good luck all the time.
I was given it by a fellow school bus driver years ago and the story was that people in Germany keep one in their autos while driving with the superstition it brings luck with safety.

Since then we took it to a lot of Bingo games which brought my wife and those who sat near us super good luck.
Together we are well ahead in the Bingo games.
We all use our "dawbers" and stamp it before the games and it sits on the table til the games are over.

and no, if I won, I would not replace it with this 1863 MS64RB pfennig. BUT it might bring me luck here.

Nice coin. Does still have a lot of red on it. I lived in Germany for 7.5 years, amd would love to have this coin, would be quite keepsake for me. This time if I win this I won't be giving it away.

Here is my newest German coin in .900 Silver
    Obverse
Eagle with a snake in its talons, denomination below
    DEUTSCHES REICH 1913
    * DREI MARK *
    Translation:
    German Empire 1913
    Three Mark
    Reverse
King Frederick William III on horseback in the midst of cheering people,
his battle cry and date at the bottom.
DER KÖNIG RIEF UND ALLE ALLE KAMEN •
    MIT GOTT•FÜR KÖNIG UND VATERLAND
    17-3-1813
    Translation:
The King Called and All Came
With God for King and Fatherland
    March 17, 1813
This commemorative coin, also known as “The King Called”, marks the centenary of King Frederick William III’s appeal “To My People” in Breslau, which lead to the declaration of war against Napoleon’s France. The featured distinctive eagle clutching a snake, symbolizes Prussia’s resistance to France's foreign domination. This motif differs from the standard heraldic eagle and is one of the rare exceptions among the Kaiserreich commemorative coins.

A beautiful design and quality for the 1860's!
The coin must have a great history as this was kept in such high grade condition for so many years.
Thank you for your very generous contests!

Should this post be the lucky winner, please send that very nice coin to @SensibleSal66.

Many thanks to @Joshua Lemons for a great series of giveaways. You are very generous.

I have been quite busy this week with an unreasonable tree stump and a temperamental tractor, so I missed keeping up with Giveaway #4. As a result the conversation got closed before I could congratulate @Wizank for the win. Well, I just took care of that.

To continue my rambling, my wife and I go grocery shopping on Thursday mornings. In the store we frequent there is a CoinStar on the path we use after checking out. Having read more than a few posts in CoinTalk about finding interesting items in the reject tray of such machines, I make it a point to take a peek as we walk out. Ta da! It worked. Last Thursday I found a coin; now I have a coin from the Cayman Islands added to my collection.

I like the shield on this one. I always find it fascinating that Germany was rather late to the nation-state party. I love that the German States coins are minted for smaller states that "no longer exist". I like collecting coins from governments that no longer exist with the same name.

When you collect the different states, the majority existed before the early 1800s when a restructuring of Germany took place in a process called mediatisation. The sweet spot of collecting for me personally are the 17th and 18th centuries!

I would like this for my other younger brother. He likes world coins best, and every birthday/Christmas I get him a small bag to add to his "Treasure Chest." I have the feeling this would look good in the chest....
    Thanks @Joshua Lemons!!!
