[CLOSED] Santinidollar’s Fourth of July Contest

Time for another Santinidollar contest

This contest will run until 11:59 pm on July 4.

Edit: this contest is now CLOSED. Winner was announced in Post #73.

Here are the two prizes:

FIRST PRIZE — Washington silver proof quarters from 1954 (a year dear to my heart) and 1964, in capsules.



SECOND PRIZE — Lincoln cent proofs 1960 through 1963 in capsules.



Here are the rules:

1. To enter, post a coin, paper money, medal, token etc. that you would be proud to show off. U.S., foreign and ancient entries all welcome. Be sure and put ENTRY POST on your entry.

2. You are limited to ONE entry post. Multiple entries will all be disqualified.

3. There will be two winners selected by random number generator. Although the quarters are listed as the first prize, the initial winner may claim the cents. In that case, the quarters will become the second prize. Contest entries will be designated a number for the drawing in the order they are posted.

4. Overseas entries are welcome, but be forewarned that such mailings are iffy (very iffy) from where I live. I will pay for mailing and tracking.

5. I must ask that you have at least 50 coin-related postings to Coin Talk to enter.

6. In case of disputes, I will ask @lordmarcovan to mediate.

7. You may designate your prize to a young collector if you choose.

8. If you are under 18 and live at home, please get your parent or guardian’s permission to enter since I will have to have your address if you win.

The best of mine can't hold a candle to the worst of yours, but i found this in circulation the other day, and I'm more than proud to show her, and have her as a new carry.

Here's one of my recent purchases that's currently at PMG waiting to be graded. I'd be surprised if it even graded an FR-02.

Another great set of prizes, thank you for the chance.
This pocket piece goes everywhere with me. It was also a pocket piece for my Father-in-law and his Father. Both were coin collectors and were career officers in the Norwegian Merchant Navy and this coin has well over 100,000 sea miles on it's clock.

 

Interestingly enough, my Great Grandfather also carried an 06-O Barber Half Dollar as a pocket piece throughout World War II and beyond.

Your currency looks interesting. Something I know nothing about. Tennesse 1886, would that be a confederate note? Excuse my ignorance

 

This particular type of banknote is called a National Bank Note issued from 1863 to 1935. Regardless, this wouldn't be a Confederate Banknote since the War ended in 1865. These were issued by local banks throughout the United States and were backed by government bonds.

Love this Piedmontesse Republic (Subalpine Republic) 2 Soldi A short lived, only 2 years, country under Napoleon. The coins were reportedly made from melting down the Brass Cannons and Church Bells from Turin.
