LordM Giveaway #118 (pick your prize)

    Contest status: CLOSED
    Drawing: @JoshuaP won
    Shipped: 6 December 2024
    Winner's receipt

    ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Hello, everyone, and welcome to the latest giveaway. This will be another one of my "pick your prize" contests, so you can hopefully win something you'll like.

    To enter:

    1. Go view my Giveaway Gallery.

    2. Post an entry here, stating which prize you would prefer.

    3. State why you chose what you did.

NOTE: That last bit is important. To qualify, you have to not only pick a prize, but also say WHY you picked it.
I do not require an essay. A few words will do.

However, if you are entering on someone else's behalf, you are not required to pick a prize or say why. Your designated proxy will get to pick their choice later, if your entry wins for them.

Your prize choice need not be final. Since I do periodically add new prizes to the Giveaway Gallery, you'll be given a chance to change your mind at the end, if you win the drawing. I just like to hear the initial selections up front, since it gives me an idea of what folks like.

Click the pic to go to the prize gallery.

The drawing will be done via random number generator sometime on or after the date mentioned at the top of this post. The timing will depend on my schedule. You may consider the contest open for entries until such time as I have posted the final result of the drawing.

Totally free: the contest is free of charge, open to everyone, with free worldwide shipping. The only further requirement is that if you win...

Please post a receipt in this thread after you get the prize, so we'll know you got it (that helps me keep track).

    Good luck!

    Numismatic regards,

    ~Robertson ("Rob") Shinnick ("LordM")

Well, I guess I will be 1st. Susie the Stork made me.
I'd like the pair of Silver Dollars if I win. Silver dollars are some of my favorite coins to collect and I have always liked the Morgan because the eagle on the back is one of the finest on coins.

    Entry post.

Please enter me again for the 1896 Morgan Dollar.
I enjoy the design of the Morgan Dollar, and I like the history of how a coin from over 125 years ago was preserved so well. Someone was keeping this in their collection in the late 1890's!

Looking forward to Thanksgiving this month, I thought I would share a coin with the theme of the 1st Thanksgiving.:) 1st Thanksgiving.jpg

I'll go for the large cent. Because I don't own one, and everyone should own at least one of everything. At least that is what my house looks like.

I'm in for the half-real, because nothing beats Spanish Silver (and I don't have one). 1944CincoCentavosOBV.jpg 1944CincoCentavosREV.jpg

“Susie” could actually be Steve the Stork in the OP. I really don’t know.

He or she was hanging out in the drive-thru lane at our local Hardee’s fast food joint.

He/she is a Wood stork, and apparently they get a hankering for a hamburger once in a while. (Can’t blame ‘em- I’d imagine cold, raw minnows and muddy crabs and stuff like that would get old.)

That’s all I know for sure.

So of course that last post made me Google-search “Wood stork diet”.

    The AI overview said,

They eat small alligators. Whoa! :wideyed:

Right below that, in the Google search results, was the question, “Can Wood storks eat hot dogs?

The answer is probably yes, but it’s a terrible idea, and bad for them.

I would likely choose the 1896 Morgan if my number comes up, as I am still trying to fill out these 1960's Whitman albums with decent specimens and I have yet to see an 1896 available for purchase in the LCS I frequent. Thanks again for running these giveaways!

I would like to enter for the Roman Clasped Hands coin. I have a few Roman coins, but that one intrigues me. The clasped hands are just unique. I like the look of it. Thank you!

I haven't done this in a few months, mostly cause I never win these things, but you gotta play to win. Entry post for the 3 cent piece, cause I don't have one.

I'll enter again for the 1856 VF-XF large cent. That thing is truly a beauty!

Sal, given the early sites you’ve metal detected, I’m surprised you haven’t found one. Given how heavily they circulated in the US before 1857, I mean.

Down here in the Deep South, on those older sites, I’ve dug a few more pieces of Spanish colonial silver than I have large cents or half dimes, for example. But we’re pretty close to Florida here, and Florida was under Spanish rule until 1821.
