    CoinTalk Circulation Finds Contest #2

Who will win the virtual trophy?

    CFC2.png

This is an idea proposed by Amanda (@meandyou4ever0).

It is a contest for the most fun/interesting finds from circulation. Only items found “in the wild” (from change, found on the ground, a CoinStar machine reject bin, or coin roll hunting, for example) apply.

Contestants may not purchase their finds- they must be acquired from circulation (or found) for face value or less.

Multiple coins may be entered only if they’re part of a single find.

There will be ten contestants. Once ten different people have posted finds, we will have a poll to decide the winner. The winner gets bragging rights.

To enter, post your find, and tell the circumstances of how you got it. Once ten different people have posted finds, we’ll have a poll to decide the winner.

*This contest is only for circulation finds found since June 1, 2023.
*Only one find per user per contest.
*Finds should consist of a single coin.

(If you found a group, pick the best one out of your find to enter.)
*Only the first ten finds posted will be in the poll for each contest.
*Count off your entries as you post them.

(If you're the first to post, your entry will be #1, the next person's will be #2, etc.) Again, we will run the poll once there have been ten entries from ten different people.
*Tell us the approximate date of your find.
(The date you found it, in other words- just to assure you're entering a recent find.)

Let's do this again, but a little differently this time, to work out the bugs from the last contest. Just a single coin this time. One per person. Just coins found since June 1st. (I backdated the deadline a little bit since there were folks that did not make it into the final poll last time.)

1939 S Obv New.jpg 1939 S Rev New.jpg I found this 1939-S in a coin roll from my local bank. Found on July 3, 2023. It was much better than the one in my album. That was probably sitting there since the early fifties.

Around the end of June I found 52 Copper plated zinc cents in a Coinstar reject bin. All were altered in a way that they are a bit wider than a normal Cent. I don't know why

This was the one best example from the group.

What kind of soak are you using? I find many coins from the property I work at that look like that and I don't know what exactly to soak them in to desolve some of the nasty

for the coppers just demineralized water for a day or 2... softens up any crusties after that I'll soak em in some verdicare for a couple hours then carefully work them over with q-tip and toothpick to remove any stuborn debris :D I also threaten them with a bottle of brasso hoping to scare some of the crud off of em :D

We went white-water rafting under that bridge. Very rough ride, my son got bounced out of the raft.
