Clipped planchet error? (reposting with more photos finally)

How could this happen post mint? Seems look the positioning of the letters in UNITED were distorts by whatever happened.

    IMO I don't believe it to be a clipped planket it appears to be damaged.

    I believe it's damaged if it was clipped I think you would lose more of the letter

    Okay, thanks. My boyfriend found it and we thought it could be clipped but we're just starting out with learning about errors.
