I believe this is my first clipped planchet. I see: • Minor Blakesly Effect opposite the clip (weak rim) • Slight smearing of design elements near the clip • Rim fades and tapers toward clip Please advise, thanks!
Yes it's a Curved Clipped Planchet.. It was not actually clipped.. The Planchet was punched to close from a previous Planchet that was punched from the sheet of metal.
Thanks everyone for their confirmation & congratulations, and for the clarification Paddyman98. Phew, that's a lot of "tions"! Will save it in a 2x2 for my collection. I didn't look for them when I started CRH Kennedys 2 years ago, but I learned about these error coins by reading other posts on CT. I don't know if they are common, but this is the first one I've found after searching 230,000 halves.
